A MODEL OF BEACH RECUPERATION AND PROTECTION AGAINST SEA EROSION

By GUILHERME LINDROTH*

Caioba, a summer resort in the State of Parana, has two beaches: "Praia Mansa" (Calm Beach) and "Praia Brava" (Rough Beach).
They are so called because Praia Mansa, which faces SSE, is located in an inlet. Praia Brava, on the other hand, faces the open sea which is directly to the East.
A baymouth bar helps protect Praia Mansa from the open sea waves. However, this bar is unsteady and it changes position according to climactic conditions and unknown cycles.
There is no consistent data about currents, waves, winds or rainfall.
